THE POST-STAR, GLENS FALLS, N. MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 17, 1951 REV. LASCELLE, 66, DIES IN HOSPITAL Rector Emeritus of Church of the Messiah Succumbs After Long Illness The Rev. Thatcher Lascelle, 66, rector emeritus, of 1 the Church of the Messiah, died yesterday at' 7:25 A. M.

in Glens Falls Hospital after a long illness. He was rector of the Church of the Messiah for 10 years, from December, 1925, until December, 1945, when he resigned of ill health. The Rev, Mr. Lascelle was born in New York June 18, 1885, the son of the late William Edith Hitchcock Lascelle. He attended Worrell Hall Military Academy and was graduated in 1913 from Nashotah Theological Seminary, otah, Wis.

He was ordained a deacon in 1911 and priest of the Episcopal Church in 1912. His first charge was as assistant at the Church of the Incarnation in New York, where he remained until the latter part of 1913, when he WAS called to: the Church of St. Mary the Virgin in New York to take charge of the parish house activities of that parish. From 1918 to 1921, he served as rector of St. Matthias Church, Sunbury, and while there he was made archdeacon.of Williamsport, a member of the Diocesan Council, chairman of the Department of Religious Education and a member of the Committee on Canons.

After leaving Sunbury, he served for three years as rector of the AlMeghany County Mission in the DioReese of Western New York, where with two assistants and deaconess he served eight parishes and missions. In 1924 he returned to New York and later became assistant at St. Agnes' Chapel of Trinity Parish. In 1927 he became rector of St. John's Church, remaining there until coming to Glens Falls.

At Oneida, he acted as commissioner' of parks and playgrounds. The Rev. Mr. Lascelle served as chaplain in World War I and was active in American Legion affairs. He served a term as state chaplain of the New York Department, Amercan Legion, in 1932.

In 1941, the Rev. Mr. Lascelle was elected dean of the Rural Deanery of Troy. Survivors are a son, A. Thatcher Lascelle, of Tacoma Park, and a half-sister, Mrs.

LeRoy Coulter, South Nyack. The body has been removed to the Sullivan and Minahan Funeral Home, 67 Park Street, pending funeral arrangements. Local Obituaries Mrs. John W. Dean Mrs.

Grace Dean, 37. Lincoln Avenue, widow of Dr. John W. Dean, died Sunday morning at the MacMaster Nursing Home. Mrs.

Dean was a graduate of Syracuse University, a member of Adirondack Branch, American Association of University Women, the Glens Falls Colony of New England Women and the Monday Study Club, and was a an active member of the First Presbyterian Church. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John Cowan of Salem and Mrs. Howard Marshall of West Point, and a son, John Wood Dean of Des Plains, Ill. The body is at the Potter Funeral Home, 136 Warren Street, where friends may call today from 3 to and 7 to 9 P.

M. Funeral services will be conducted the funeral home at 2 P. M. Tuesday by the Rev. De William E.

Montgomery, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Interment will be in Friends Cemetery. Miss Alice Abbott Miss Alice Abbott, 30 Coolidge Avenue, died Sunday afternoon at her home. Miss Abbott was the daughter of the late Rev. and Mrs.

Richard Abbott. Her father, the Rev. Mr. Abbott, was formerly pastor of Presbyterian Churches in Portland, Camden, N. and Warrensburg, and was later chaplain at Great Meadow Prison.

Miss Abbott, an accomplished musician, was teacher of voice in New York for many years and WAS a soloist in leading churches there. She personally conducted tours to Europe for a number of years. She had lived 'in Glens Falls since her retirement, and was an active member of the Presbyterian Church. She is survived by 8 brother, the Rev. Paul R.

Abbott of New York, for many years a missionary to China, and a prominent representative of the Mission Boards 'of the Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 3:30 P. M. at the -Potter Funeral Home, 136 Warren Street. The Rev.

Dr. William Montgomery, pastor of the Presbyterian Church will officiate. Interment will be in Glens Falls Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 tonight. Mrs.

Barber Funeral Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Barber, 2 Beech Street, will be conducted Tuesday at 1 P. M. at the home. The Rev.

D. Paul Currier, Piddlers Lane, Loudonville, and mother of Mrs. Mary Fortier, Glens Falls; were conducted today at the Zwack Mortuary, 184 Central Avenue, Albany, and in St. Plus Chapel, Loudonville. Interment was in St.

Aghes Cemetery, Albany. Emma Brooks, 79, died Sunday night at her home on the Granville -Wells Road after long illness. She is survived by her husband, Thomas a Brooks; two sons, Brooks of Chestertown and Maynard Brooks of Warrensburg; three daughters, Mrs. Hazel Tobin, North Rupert, Mrs. Irene Bovee, Manchester, Mrs. Letine Towsley, Pottersville; a sister, Mrs.

Edwin Jones, Glens Falls; two brothers, Joseph Sears, -Hebron, Edward Sears, Sacramento, nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A prayer service will be conducted Wednesday morning at the home, followed by requiem Mass at 9. A. M. in St.

Raphael's Church, Poultney, with the Rev. Father- Michael Costello officiating. Interment will be in Pawlet, Vt. Friends may call at the home. Mrs.

Myrtle L. Campbell CAMBRIDGE Mrs. Myrtle Campbell, 82, died Sunday at her home in Shushan, where she had lived for the past 60 years. She WAS the widow of William J. Campbell, She is survived, by two daughters, Mrs.

Fred Wager of Shushan and Mrs. C. W. Hampel of Yonkers, and nine grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted tat the home.

Wednesday at 2 P. M. by the Rev. Joel Shippey, pastor of the Salem and Shushan Methodist Churches. Interment wil be in Evergreen Cemetery, Salem.

William Mack Walker GREENWICH William Mack Walker, 71, well known retired farmer, died suddenly Saturday morning at his home in Church Street. He Is survived by his wife, the Lillie Balch; two daughters, Mrs. John Devine, Buskirk, and Mrs. Henry Pritchard, Albany: two sons, Lester of Greenwich and George of Hoosick Falls; three brothers, the Rev. George Walker, 0, S.

Hoos-1 ick Falls; Edward of Greenwich and Frank of New York, and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 P. M. Tuesday at the home. Interment will be in Woodlands Cemetery, Cambridge.

Edward R. Stewart Funeral WHITEHALL-Funeral services for Edward Ross Stewart, son of Mr. and Mrs. Claude Stewart, 140 Broadway, who was killed in an automobile accident Thursday near North Creek, will be conducted today 9:30 A. Our Lady of Angels Church, where a Solemn Requiem Mass will be celebrated.

Interment will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Military services will be conducted the grave by Pike-Bartholomew Post, 3175, Veterans of Foreign George Heckendorn WHITEHALL George Hecken- dorn, 77, of Clemons died Saturday morning at his home. He was a member of Phoenix Lodge, 96, and A and a member of Champlain Chapter, 25, RAM. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Magdalina Heckendorn, Clemoni two brothers, Harry, New York, and Louis, Clemons; also several nieces and nephews. Masonic services will be conducted tonight at 8 at the funeral home, and funeral services will be conducted at-10 A.

M. Tuesday at the Allen and Jillson Funeral Home, with the Rev. S. Arthur Davies, rector of Trinity Episcopal Church, officiating. The body will be taken to the Gardner Earl Crematory, Troy.

The body is at the Allen and Jillson Funeral Home where friends may call from 2 to 5 and 7 to 10 P. M. Jack. Morehouse Jack Morehouse, 76, died Saturday about 9:30 P. M.

at his home here. A former resident of Bolton, he had lived here for about 40 years. Surviving are his wife, Cora; a son, Ray Morehouse of Warrensburg; a brother, Robert Morehouse of Lake George; two sisters, -Mrs. Grant Hill and Mrs. Fred Harpp of Chestertown; a stepson, Ernest Harpp, and a step Mrs.

Jesse Harpp, both of Chestertown. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 M. at the Barton Funeral Home, Chestertown, the Rev. George D. Jock, pastor of the Wesleyan Methodist Church, Brant Lake, officiting.

Interment will be in Leggett Cemetery, Chestertown. Friends may call at the funeral home this afternoon and evening. William H. Williams GRANVILLE William H. Wiliams, 74, died Saturday morning in Mary McClellan Hospital, Cambridge.

He is survived by four daughters, Mrs. Louis Caputo, Fort Edward; Mrs. Alfred Haner, Glens Falls, and the Misses Loraine and Marion Williams, Granville; five sons, Joseph, Clyde and Allen, Granville; Robert, Ghent, N. and Edward, Wes Haven, two brothers, Hugh Williams, West Pawlet, and. Robert Williams of Utica; a half sister, Mrs.

William G. Roberts, Granville, and a half brother, John E. Roberts, West Pawlet, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 P. M.

at. the home in North Maple Street, The Rev. Dr. R. Lewis Jones of Ballston Spa will officiate.

Interment will be in Mettowee. Cemetery. Friends may call at the home at any time. Mrs. Lizzie Lydia Manning FORT ANN Mrs.

Lizzie Lydia Manning, '83, died Saturday afternoon in Glens Falls Hospital, where she had been a patient for a month. She was a member of the Fort Ann Methodist Church. She is survived by, a son, Herbert Manning, Fort Ann; 8 brother, Ray Grobesteen, Schenectady, and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:30 P. M.

Tuesday at the Allen and Jillson Funeral Home by the Rev. Harold pastor of the Methodist Church. Interment will be in North Granville Cemetery, Friends may call at the funeral home, today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P. M. Mrs.

M. Interment will be in Schenectady. Mrs. Anna MoSweeney OLMSTEDVILLE Mrs. Anna McSweeney died Saturday night in Emma Laing Stevens Hospital, Granville.

She is survived by two sons, William and Edward; three sisters, Mary Lane, Glens Falls; Mrs. Arthur Oliver, Minerva, and Mrs. Genevieve Kelly, Olmstedville. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 A. M.

Tuesday in St. Joseph's Church, Olmstedville, by the Rev. Pather F. C. Hatch.

Adams, 76, died suddenly Wednesday morning at his home here, after suffering a heart attack. Born in Lowell, he had made his home in Ticonderoga 14 years. He was a retired employe of the AmerScan Telephone Company. Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Charles Davis of Cheverly, Md.
