Opp. City Hall ALLIES' BACKERS TO MEET TONIGHT Group to Defend America Will Hear Bascom, Loyzelle Give Talks The Glens Falls Chapter of the Committee to Defend America by Aiding the Allies will meet at 8.15 tonight in the city court room in City Hall. Several speakers will be present, including Attorney Frederick G. N. Loyzelle, former president of the Glens Falls Trades Assembly.

This will be the first meeting of the chapter as body. Previously there have been several meetings of the executive committee at which plans were made to conduct local campaign, both to increase membership of the chapter and to. arouse public interest in the aims of the committee. Russell M. L.

George MeGinn McGinn, NORTH 53, of CREEK Bridport, Mrs. George died at 6:15 P. M. Saturday in Moses Ludington Hospital at Ticonderoga. Besides her husband, she is survived by one son, Ernest; and one daughter, Ella.

The body was brought to the McGinn home in Olmsted ville and funeral services will be conducted at 10 A. M. Tuesday in St. Joseph's Church at Olmsted ville. The Rev.

Father F. C. Hatch will celebrate the requiem high Mass. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Olmstedville.

The American Legion Auxiliary conducted services at the residence Sunday night. Funeral of Mrs. Ellen De Witt TICONDEROGA Funeral services for Mrs. Ellen De Witt, 89, were conducted at the Congregational Church in East Cornwall, Friday. Interment was in the Cornwall Cemetery.

Mrs. De Witt had relatives and friends in Ticonderoga, and often visited here. She was a native of Crown Point. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, including Mrs. William Phillips of Ticonderoga.

Mrs. Phillips and daughter Doris, and son, William, attended the funeral. Mrs. Marian M. Braw GRANVILLE Marian Morse Braw, 48, died Saturday night at her home, 13 Buckley Street, after short illness.

She is survived by two sons, Fred J. Braw, and William M. Braw of Granville: two brothers, Fred 0. Morse of Granville and Charles W. Morse of North Clarendon, and two sisters, Mrs.

George L. Gilman of West Pawlet, and Mrs. Watson Roberts' of Granville. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 P. M.

at the home. The Rev. John W. Guyer, pastor of the Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in Mettowee Cemetery.

John G. Herrick SARATOGA SPRINGS John G. Herrick, 58, a former resident of this city, died suddenly in Schenectady Thursday Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Garton Barber, Bristol, one sister, Mrs. Laura Shepard, White Plains, and brother, Foster Herrick, this city.

I ELECTION SLATED ON FIELD HOUSE Interest Develops in Plans of School Board for Sherman Avenue Plot Widespread interest is developing in the Board of Education's proposal for construction of 8 $15,000 field house at the Sherman Avenue athletic field, to be submitted to the qualified voters of. School District 1 at a special election July 31.

The cost of the building would be met through. a bond issue which would be retired over period of years, The election will be conducted at the Senior High School with the polls open from until 9 P. M. "Qualified voters" are defined as persons owning or renting real property within the school district or being the parents or guardians of children attending school. Indications are the vote will greatly exceed that usually recorded school meetings for the election of members of the Board of Education and approval of budgets.

Comparatively little interest in school affairs has been shown in the past by voters of the district, with a few exceptions, but it is understood that the field house proposition is being widely discussed and that both advocates and opponents of the plan will turn out in large numbers to aid in deciding the issue. Mengarelli, Former Syracuse Ball Club Head, Faces Federal Count MALONE, N. Y. July 21. (P) Alex A. Mengarelli, former president of the Syracuse International League Baseball Club, WAS indicted Friday by a Federal Grand Jury for violating the Securities and Exchange Act and using the mails to defraud.

Assistant U. 8. District Attorney Robert J. Leamy, said the indictment contained five counts charging Mengarelli, from August 1, 1937, to August 1939, bought stock of Detroit Corporation sold it in Syracuse and vicinity by false representations concerning condition of the company, Leamy said sale of approximately 30,000 shares were involved.
