Friday, December 19, 2003 Hollis Joseph 'Joe' Ross JOHNSBURG Hollis Joseph "Joe" Ross, 70, of Hudson Street, passed away peacefully following a long illness, Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2003, surrounded by his loving family. Born Sept. 20, 1933, in Johnsburg, he was the son of Arnold and Gretchen (Cleveland) Ross. Joe was a lifelong the North Country and the U.S.

Born in Grand-mere, Quebec, on April 4, 1909, she was the daughter of the late Evan Sydney Charles and Hannah May (Higgins) Woodford. Vivian married W. Emerson Rogers in Lake George on June 12, 1937, in a double wedding ceremony with her twin sister, Vida. Mrs. Rogers was a member of the Fort Edward Village Baptist Church, the Seba Banker Missionary Society, and the Kwitcherworries Home Bureau.

She enjoyed sewing, cooking, taking trips, eating out, and being with her family. In addition to her parents, her husband and 10 sisters and brothers predeceased her. Survivors include her daughter, Leslie V. Wood of South Glens Falls; her son, Thomas E. Rogers and his wife, Glenda, of Queensbury; her grandsons, Kyle T.

Wood and his wife, Patricia, of Castleton, N.Y., and Scott R. Wood and his wife, Sharon, of Gansevoort; four great Sara, Stefanie, Marcus, and Thomas Wood; two stepgrandchildren; six stepgreat -grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Reba Henry ARGYLE Reba Henry, 64, of Argyle, died Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003, at Glens Falls Hospital from complications from a stroke.

Born in Hebron on July 12, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Willard M. and Eunice (Harwood) Henry. She was a graduate of Argyle Central School, Class of 1957, and Morrisville Agricultural and Technical College in 1959. After college, Reba worked in Albany as a bookkeeper for several years. Reba was an active charter member of the North Argyle Community Church, where she taught Sunday school up to the time of her illness.

She enjoyed taking part in all church activities and sewing and ceramics. She was a member of the former Argyle Grange. LOCAL Putnam trailer destroyed by fire By DARRIN YOUKER said. PUTNAM A trailer was destroyed when fire tore through it late Wednesday night.

No one was home when fire leveled the trailer on Pulpit Point Road, and no injuries were reported. The trailer was a second home for a Corinth man, whose name was not immediately available. Fire investigators are unsure what sparked the 11 p.m blaze, but they do not believe it was intentionally set. An initial investigation is pointing to the home's electrical system, said Putnam Fire Chief Dan Tucker. Y. OBITUARIES Gladys I. Clark Hilda S. Halavin FORT EDWARD Gladys I. Clark, longtime Fort Edward resident, died peacefully on Thursday, Dec.

18, 2003, at Eden Park Health Care Facility in Glens Falls. She was born on March 10, 1898, in Rouses Point, the daughter of Simeon and Melinda (Gooley) Roberts. On Oct. 18, 1920, she married Gordon J. Clark at St.

Joseph's Church in Fort Edward and remained as the oldest communicant of that congregation at the time of her death. Gordon died in 1976, after 56 years of marriage. Gladys was also a member of the Hudson Falls Fort Edward 60 Plus Senior Citizens and was the group's chaplain for 25 years. When she went to live at Adirondack Manor Adult Home in Queensbury, she gave up the position of chaplain. Gladys remained a resident there until July of 2003.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sons, Gordon Clark Sherwood Clark, Clyde Clark and infant, Karl Clark; her grandson, Robert Sherwood Clark; and her granddaughter, Jacqueline Clark. She is survived by her children, Shirley Lee of Palatka, Jean Harris and Farrell Clark and his wife, WARRENSBURG three brothers, C. Patricia, all of Glens Hilda S. Fitzgerald Jr. TUCSON, Ariz. William E. Fitzgerald CEO of Fitzgerald Brothers Beverage, 89 years old, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2003.

His wife, Katherine and four children survive him: Anne McCormack, Mary Patton Fitzgerald, Lisa Fitzgerald, and William E. Fitzgerald III; and four grandchildren. He was a native of Troy and resided in Tucson, Ariz. Mr. Fitzgerald was known to his family and friends as a kind man, interested in the details and stories of each person with whom he crossed paths.

A gentle man who had two loves, his family and his family-owned business, Fitzgerald Bros. Beverages, Inc. in Glens Falls, a Pepsi Cola bottler and Coors distributor. He was a graduate of the Albany Academy and Georgetown University. Mr.

Fitzgerald served as an officer in the Royal Canadian Navy on a frigate in the North Atlantic during World War II. He was president and CEO of Fitzgerald Bros. Brewing Co. of Troy, until its sale in 1963. Mr.

Fitzgerald was known for his immense enjoyment of hockey, minor league baseball and non-gambler who loved the racetrack. He was a gentleman to the core, his loyal kindness to each person in his life was remarkable. His goodness will be missed. Robert F. VanWagner SARATOGA SPRINGS Robert F.

Van Wagner, of Granite Street, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Saratoga Hospital. He was 78. Born on Dec. 21, 1924, in of the late Clarence D.

and Saratoga a Springs, he was a son Caroline Mattatall Van Wagner and was a lifelong resident. He attended Saratoga Springs city schools, worked as a taxi cab driver for several years and was employed by American Locomotive in Schenectady. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he received three battle stars for campaigns in the European Theater of Operations and was a recipient of the Purple Heart for wounds sustained in battle in Italy. He was a heavy equipment operator for D.A.

Collins. Construction for many years and worked for the New York State Department of Transportation for 15 years prior to his retirement. Bob also worked for the New York Racing Association's security during the Saratoga August racing season, primarily on the backstretch horse crossing and at the Whitney gate. A member of the Teamsters Union, he was an avid NASCAR fan and traveled to Daytona for CLARK many racing events. He was predeceased by his wife of 44 years, Amy B.

(Missita) VanWagner, who died on Jan. 29, 1999; one sister, Helen Duell; and three brothers, John, Frank and Gordon VanWagner. Survivors include his brother, Lewis R. VanWagner of Saratoga Springs; his sister, Cora Denn of Ballston Spa; several nieces and nephews, including Scott P. Christmas of Coral Springs, James Christmas of Boynton Beach, Kathleen Washburn of Glen Allen, Dr.

Mason, 84, formerly of River Road, Melrose, died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2003, at Fort Hudson Nursing Home, Fort Edward, following a long illness. Born June 10, 1909, in Rutland, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Justine Thibodeau Senecal. Azilda was educated in' Bristol, Vt. She was the wife of the late William T.

Mason, who died in 1979. Azilda was a communicant of Assumption-St. Paul Church in Mechanicville. She is survived by a son, Richard H. and his wife, Susan Mason of Queensbury; and a cousin, Alice LaPorte of Schenectady.

She is also survived by four grandchildren, Richard J. Mason, Kathryn Smith, Ellen M. and Susan C. Mason, and four great-grandchildren. Azilda was predeceased by brothers, Rene, Norbert, Leo, George and Emile Senecal, sisters, Rhea Senecal, Ceile St.

Most recently, Hilda was a private duty nurse for Warren County. Hilda was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 51 years, and prided herself on knowing much of the local history of Warrensburg. Hilda was predeceased by her husband, Arthur F. Halavin; Duprey Raymon and her husband, Fred, of Ticonderoga; one son, Stephen McDonald and his wife, Zina, of Old Town, and Warrensburg; two stepsons, Mark Halavin of Cocoa Beach, and Henry Halavin of Fort Lauderdale two grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be conducted at 3 p.m.

Kenneth A. Durrin Sr. WYTHEVILLE, Va. Kenneth A. Durrin 97, formerly of East Greenwich, died Tuesday, Dec.

16, 2003, in Wytheville. He was the widower of Dorothy (Allen) Durrin. Born June 22, 1906, in Shushan, he was DURRIN the son of George and Bertha (VanGuilder). A graduate of Cambridge Union School, he worked for Prudential Life Insurance Co. in Greenwich as a life insurance agent.

In 1944, Ken joined the United States Navy and served until 1945. Ken returned to his home area and was the postmaster and owner of the general store in East Greenwich for many years. In 1985, he moved to Clintwood, then in 1989, to tucson, Va. In 1994, he moved to Wytheville, where he remained until his death. He was a member of Cambridge-Salem Lodge No.

481 DURRIN Free and Accepted Masons and American Legion Liberty Post No. 515, in Greenwich. He attended the Methodist Church. Mr. Durrin is predeceased by a son, Richard Durrin of Cossayuna.

Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Davis of Clintwood, and Linda Durrin of Tucson, a son, Kenneth A. Durrin Jr. of Vienna, 14 grandchildren and 23 -grandchildren. Friends and relatives are invited to call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Fremont R. Magee SALEM Fremont R. Magee, 91, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at his home in Salem. He was born May 9, 1912, in Salem, the son of Roy and Clara (Smith) Magee.

Fremont was retired from the 3-M Co. in Rutland, Vt. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He enjoyed life and his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by one sister, Muriel Hyatt.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Adeline (Nancy) Carlton Magee of Salem; one son, Roy Magee and his wife, Marilyn, of West Chazy; two daughters, Yvonne Fucci and her husband, Robert, of Rutland, and Susan McNulla and her husband, John, of Ellicot City, eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. The fire was discovered by a nearby homeowner who was watching over the property, Tucker said. "He was in bed and he noticed the glow from out of the window," Tucker said.

The trailer was mostly engulfed when firefighters reached it, and firefighters suspect it was burning for a least a half-hour before anyone arrived on scene. Firefighters also had to deal with deep snow and treacherous roads when responding to the scene, Tucker said. "We had to crawl to get there," he said. Firefighters from Ticonderoga responded to the scene and the Dresden Fire Department was put on standby.
