Hudson Falls New, Updated Objectives Of Civil Defense Setup Are Outlined by Director At the recent meeting of the Washington County Medical Assoc, held at Wallies Restaurant In Greenwich, Donald R. Reynolds, director of civil defense, outlined the new and updated objectives of the civil defense program in Washington County. Association president, Dr. Leith Skinner, presided. Following the dinner meeting Mr.

Reynolds presented the new plan for civil defense in Washington County. The present day conception civil defense has been extended to cover natural disasters, as well as the original idea of only that of non-military action in case of a -caused emergency or catastrophe, he stated. One step taken in reactivating the medical services was the unanimous acceptance by the association to follow the leadership of Skinner in updating Washington County Civil Defense Medical Plan, and thereby make it consistent with the new county operational plan, Aswill sured support that the his efforts Medical of Assoc. reor- ganization, Dr. Skinner, as chief the medical services and president of the Medical will recruit and doctrinate five zone medical officers and staffs to reactivate and impliment the plan.

Mr. Reynolds explained that the reasons for a change of policy in civil defense objectives hinge on the fact that long range bombers have been replaced by the missile. Mr. Reynolds said his purpose to meet with the medical association was to. brief its mem-8 bers of the 'new duties and responsibilities the Civil Defense Medical Services, The county communications, radiological, welfare and medical services were explained.

Details of the method integration these services into a working machine system capable of combating all eventualities were explained. Details were also discussed, showing how the medical service, including doctors, nurses, veterinarians, dentists, and other kindred professions would fit into the program during and after any large scale disaster. Mr. Reynolds showed a film entitled "Disaster Services" depicting actual set-up of an improvised offered to the public health nurses of Washington, Warren and Saratoga Counties. School nurses of these same counties were invited to sit-in.

This course was prepared by the New York State Department of Health for the New York State Civil Defense Commission, It is intended that all registered nurses and students in schools of nursing, licensed practical nurses, and students in schools of practical nursing be trained in procedures for these services. The Glens Falls district director of public 1 health nurses, Miss Nettie Bubb, was the primary force in presenting this institute at this time. This district con- emergency hospital, should major disaster occur. A training program has been Initiated in Washington County to present to public health and school a course in "Disaster Training." On Friday, the second session of this course will be held at Washington County Office Building in the civil detense offices. The first session was held 24 with about 40 nurses in attendance.

This course, sponsored the Washington County Office of Civil Defense, IS William J. Wetherbee Dies at His Home WILLIAM J. WETHERBEE William J. Wetherbee, 62, of 16 Paris Hudson Falls, vicepresident of the Fort EdwardHudson Falls Savings and Loan and assistant sales manager of Finch, Pruyn and died last evening at his home. Mr.

Wetherbee was a member and trustee of the Methodist Church of Hudson Falls, and a trustee of the Lakeside Chapel, Cleverdale. He was also a member of the Fort Edward Masonic Temple. a aret; Surviving a son, are William his wife, of Marg- Fort Edward; three daughters, Mrs. Donald B. Wheeler Albany, Miss Margaret Ellen and Miss Elizabeth Ann, both of Hudson Falls; a brother, Francis of Fort Edward; his mother, Mrs.

Leslie Wetherbee, Fort Edward; and two grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2 p.m. in the Methodist Church, by the Rev. Donald Lewis, pastor. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Fort Edward.

Friends may call at the Carleton Funeral Home, 68 Main Hudson Falls, tonight from 7 to 9 and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Those who wish to do so may contribute to the Heart Fund in Mr. Wetherbee's memory. Expect Full House At Benefit Show A full house seems assured for the Pete Williams show to be presented Saturday evening School in the Edward High as a benefit for Fort Edward Post, des-1133, American Legion. Commander Charles Fuller is chairman for the event, assisted by Anthony Armando, Robert Fenton and Donald Plude. Tickets are available from members of post or may be obtained at the Old Fort Restaurant or Country Dollar. SUPPER TO BE SERVED spaghetti supper, sponsored the Shangri-La Theta Rho Girls Club, will be served in Odd Fellows Hall Thursday starting at 5:30 p.m. The public 1 is invited.

Fort Edward Frank H. Cronkhite Named President of Historical Assoc. Frank H.

Cronkhite was elected president of the Fort Edward Historical Association at the annual meeting conducted last night in the Old Fort House. He succeeds John P. Burke, whose letter saying he was unable to accept reelection because of illness was accepted with regret. An article read by Mr. Cronkfor his personal interest in hite paying tribute to Mr.

Burke historical society and the time and talent he has contributed to promote its success and that of the Old Fort. House museum was adopted by motion of the members attending. It was moved that the tribute be spread on the minutes of the meeting and 8 copy sent to Mr. Burke with an expressed hope that the health of he and Mrs. Burke be so improved that they can return to their place as active members.

Mr. Burke was first elected president at the reorganization meeting of the historical association July 20, 1950, and he has served continuously in that office ever since. The association was reactivated at a meeting March 8, 1949, for the purpose of saving and restoring the Patt Smyth House, later named the Old Fort House. Other officers elected for the ensuing year were: Robert C. Loughlin, first vice president; Miss Jean Hill, second vice president; Miss Elizabeth Kennedy, secretary; Laurence A.

Johnston, treasurer; Mrs. Monroe Oppenheim, Mrs. William H. Hill and Mrs. John C.

Tubbs, trustees; Mrs. Oppenheim, curator. Chairmen of committees will be appointed at the next meeting. Two movies, made by the National Film Board of Canada and loaned by the Southern Adirondack Library System, were presented by Mrs. Robert Loughlin, program chairman.

The first was on the Yukon and the second showed the city of Vancouver, city of many faces. Both were especially well received. Beryl Hopkins was operator for the movies. The treasurer's report showed that there are 173 memberships in the association at the present time. CARD PARTY TONIGHT A public card party will be held at 8 tonight in the Legion on McCrea St.

The peaches and punch were judged and served as of refreshment.

Members participated in a quiz on names of apples led by Mrs. Roger DuPuis. Guests were Meleah Holmquist, Mrs. Judy Scoville, and Mrs. Irma Ball.
